Steinberg Law Firm in Charleston, SC Celebrates 80 Years of Service by Providing Eight Months of Service to Local Charities

The Steinberg Law Firm in Charleston, SC is celebrating 80 years of service to working people by applying eight months of charitable service to the communities it serves. This year, the firm's partners and staff have adopted eight Lowcountry charitable organizations to benefit from their muscle, brainpower, influence and creativity.

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) May 8, 2008 -- Working for a firm that has spent 80 years helping people throughout the Lowcountry has inspired partners of the Steinberg Law Firm here (www.steinberglawfirm.com) to celebrate their anniversary with a gift of service. Starting this month, and extending through November, the firm will adopt a local charity per month, and apply its human, professional and financial resources to making it stronger.

For eight decades, the law firm has served working people - and helped write workers compensation laws that continue to protect their Charleston-area clientele.

The program kicked off with partner Tom White, who volunteered to handle a pro bono disability case for the Crisis Ministries Legal Justice program. The Legal Justice program pairs local attorneys with guests at the area homeless shelter and provides them free legal counsel. Firm associate Michael Jordan will also provide pro bono services to the shelter.

In May, the firm's administrative staff has adopted the Women Build program at Sea Island Habitat for Humanity. The firm will sponsor the event's tee-shirt printing, and will assign a group of women to help assemble the house. Last year's Women Build was featured in the recent Southern Living magazine, which also pictured volunteers in their Steinberg-sponsored tee shirts.

June will find partner Steven Goldberg fulfilling the wish list at Operation Home, an organization he supports as a board member. Operation Home provides free or low cost home repairs to low-income residents.

In July, partner David Pearlman will connect the firm to the Rural Mission and its Hope for the Future program, which provides funds for college-bound students in need.

August will find partner Malcolm Crosland launching Heads Up, a new awareness group focused on the avoidance of head injuries related to sporting activities.

September will have Dale Van Slambrook raising raise funds for Special Olympics of the Lowcountry. Van Slambrook, a marathoner and frequent Iron Man contestant, will secure sponsorships for every mile he runs in 2008.

In October, partner Kevin Holmes will take a large group of staff and colleagues shopping to fill the Wish List for the Lowcountry Food Bank's successful Kids Café program.

November will cap the program with Kevin Smith, incoming chairman of Trident Literacy Association and newest Steinberg partner, engineering a children's book drive at the firm's three offices.
